Sharon has a strong basis for collaborative research with a versatile breadth of translational experience .
As a certified speech-pathologist, Sharon has previously worked on clinical research projects including outcomes database work, behavioral data collection, and patient sample processing for laryngeal biology and microbiome studies. She became interested in how bacteria contribute to disease and now pursues basic science research focusing on host-pathogen interactions and tissue repair. Read more about her current research here!

Marie Christine Kohler Art Fellow at the UW-Madison Wisconsin Institute for Discovery, 2022 - present
Conceptualized, designed and constructed an interactive, multi-modal traveling public art installation ("Genetic Symphonies") in collaboration with a Science fellow to portray the scientific concept of Hox gene expression for a public audience
Utilized AutoCAD and full array of woodshop & electrical soldering equipment to fabricate a visual display and interactive audience-operated podium
Coordinated moving logistics and executed moving (dismounting, transportation, reinstallation) for traveling exhibition showing at 5 separate venues over the course of 1 year
Lead Artist, Developing Artist Murals & Alliances (DAMA), art non-profit formerly known as Dane Arts Mural Arts, Madison, WI, 2020 - 2022
Designed and painted large scale murals with artist team, often with community involvement
Facilitated large public community paint events by instructing volunteers of various ages and skill levels in mural-making activities
Guided groups of elementary school students and adult volunteers to paint sidewalk murals that educate and raise public environmental awareness for the Storm Drain Mural Project (a collaboration with Dane County & the Madison Area Municipal Storm Water Partnership)
