This series of murals has really been an epic work in the making, taking over 2 years to produce from conception to installation! Each of these sections represents an art form (musical, visual, and movement) and if you look closely at the inner patterning, you can spot doodles made by kids from Madison Metropolitan School District and local youth art groups, Little Picassos and Cultural Connections. Incorporating these drawings was no small feat for designer Amy Zaremba, especially while handling the curveball of figuring out new ways for distanced community involvement at the height of the pandemic.

As a production artist with DAMA, I only played a small part in this massive project, but learned so much from Yvette Pino on integrating screenprinting techniques into mural projects. And with all big projects, it’s simply satisfying to work with a group to make big and bold things come together as a team.
